Health Careers Certification

Health Careers Certification offers both high school and adult students an opportunity to develop skills in the medical field. As one of the fastest growing industries in the nation today, the area of health services offers men and women career choices that are rewarding and challenging.

Instruction in Health Careers includes lectures, self-study units, hands-on experiences, computer application, and active group participation. Health Careers Certification is student-centered. Students begin rigorous study with a core curriculum. Following completion of the core, the student chooses a specialty health career pathway for more individualized study and training. Through Health Careers Certification a high school student may earn a high school science credit in anatomy and physiology.

Areas of Study:

  • Safety and Infection Control
  • CPR/First Aid
  • Medical Math
  • Legal and Ethical Responsibilities
  • Assessment
  • Mobility
  • Medical Terminology
  • Anatomy and Physiology

Areas of Specialty Training:

  • Nursing Assistant (which may lead to certification in both long term care and home health care)
  • Physical Therapy Aide
  • Medical Secretary
  • Clinical Medical Office Assistant
  • Veterinary Assistant
  • Pre-Practical Nursing

Health Careers Certification prepares graduates for employment in entry-level health care occupations. Individuals may choose to continue their education in health care.

Or go a step further and enter our Practical Nursing program.

Health Careers Certification also prepares students for college study in Nursing, Biology, Pre-medicine, Veterinary Science, and other health related degrees.
