Medical Records Technician

The Medical Records Technician Program is designed to prepare the student for entry-level employment in a medical, dental or hospital office setting. This program emphasizes medical office skills. Medical Transcriptionists are medical language specialists who interpret and transcribe dictation by physicians, physician’s assistants and nurse practitioners. They are self-disciplined and detail-oriented, working well under pressure and with time constraints, and exhibit ethical behavior.

Participants will receive a thorough background in basic accounting procedures used to operate a medical office. Procedures include recording business transactions, completion of the accounting cycle, payroll, accounts payable/receivable and creating financial statements. Participants are required to bring a calculator. This course is not computerized.
